Cancellation and Refund Policy
Last updated: 6 June 2026
We understand that travel plans can change. This page explains exactly what happens when a trip is cancelled — whether by you or by us — so there are no surprises. We have written it in plain language so you can read it once and know where you stand.
When You Reserve a Spot But Have Not Yet Paid
When you reserve a spot on our website, no payment is required. At this stage:
- •You can cancel at any time with no charge.
- •Simply email us at info@templefronttours.com or WhatsApp us at +977 9851007885.
- •No questions asked.
Once You Have Paid a Deposit
Once a deposit is paid, your booking is confirmed and the following cancellation charges apply. The amount refunded depends on how many days remain before the trip's departure date when we receive your written cancellation:
60 or more days before departure
Full refund of any amount paid above the 20% deposit. The 20% deposit is non-refundable, as it covers initial planning, permit applications, and partner deposits we have already paid on your behalf.
59 to 30 days before departure
50% of the total trip cost is non-refundable. The remaining 50% is refunded to you.
29 to 15 days before departure
80% of the total trip cost is non-refundable. The remaining 20% is refunded to you.
14 or fewer days before departure
No refund. By this point, almost all of our costs have been paid out — permits, domestic flights, hotel deposits, guide and porter wages, restricted-area arrangements.
After the trip has started
No refund for unused portions of the trip — including unused accommodation, meals, transport, or activities — for any reason. This is standard practice across the industry.
How to Cancel
To cancel a confirmed booking, please send us written notice by:
- •Email: info@templefronttours.com, or
- •WhatsApp: +977 9851007885
The date we receive your cancellation in writing is the date used to calculate the refund.
Refund Processing
Approved refunds are processed within 14 working days from the date the cancellation is confirmed. Refunds are sent to the same payment method and currency used to make the original payment. Bank charges or transfer fees deducted by intermediary banks are not refundable.
If We Cancel Your Trip
In rare cases, we may need to cancel a confirmed trip. This usually happens for one of the following reasons:
Insufficient group size
For group departures requiring a minimum number of travellers. If the minimum is not met, we will let you know at least 21 days before departure and you can choose:
- •A full refund of everything you have paid, OR
- •A rescheduled departure on a different date, OR
- •A different trip of equal value
Force majeure
(weather, political unrest, natural disaster, government action, pandemic, etc. — see our Terms and Conditions for the full list) We will offer:
- •A rescheduled trip at a future date, OR
- •A trip credit (valid for 24 months) for the recoverable amount, OR
- •A refund of any costs we have not already paid out on your behalf
In force majeure cases, we cannot refund costs that have already been spent on permits, non-refundable flights, hotels, or partner deposits. We will be open with you about exactly what has been spent and what can be returned.
Travel Insurance
This is a strong reason to have travel insurance. A good "Trip Cancellation and Interruption" policy can cover cancellation costs that fall on you due to:
- •Illness or injury preventing travel
- •Family emergencies
- •Flight delays causing you to miss the trip
- •Other personal reasons
We do not insure your trip on your behalf. See our Insurance Advice page for what to look for in a policy.
Changing Dates Instead of Cancelling
If you cannot travel on your booked dates but still want to take the trip later, talk to us. In many cases, we can move your dates instead of cancelling — sometimes at no cost, sometimes with a small administration charge, depending on how close to departure we are and what costs have already been committed. Always ask first; we will do what we can.
Trip Insurance and Helicopter Rescue
Note: helicopter rescue, medical evacuation, and treatment costs in Nepal are not part of any trip refund. These are covered only by your personal travel insurance. See our Insurance Advice page.
