- Best season: March–May (rhododendrons, spring festivals) and September–November (clear Himalayan views). Avoid June–August (heavy monsoon).
- Fitness: Moderate. The Tiger's Nest hike is ~4 hours return with ~900 m ascent. A horse ride to the halfway cafe is available.

What is Punakha Dzong?
Punakha Dzong (1637) is one of the most beautiful fortresses in Bhutan, built at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. It was Bhutan's capital until 1955 and still hosts royal ceremonies. The dzong is surrounded by jacaranda trees that bloom purple in spring.
