The Everest Base Camp Trek is the world's most celebrated high-altitude walk — a fifteen-day journey into the Khumbu, homeland of the Sherpa people and the gateway to the highest mountains on earth. From the airstrip at Lukla the trail threads through pine and rhododendron forest, crosses the Dudh Koshi on swaying suspension bridges, and climbs to the trading town of Namche Bazaar before opening onto the glacial amphitheatre of the upper valley. It culminates at Everest Base Camp (5,364 m) and, at dawn, the viewpoint of Kala Patthar (5,545 m) — the finest vantage on Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse anywhere on the route. Two dedicated acclimatisation days, unhurried pacing and the warmth of teahouse hospitality make this a trek to be savoured rather than rushed. TempleFront has guided Himalayan travellers since 1996; every departure is private to your group, led by an experienced Nepali guide and carried by porters who know every turn of the trail.

Important Notes
- Permits: Sagarmatha National Park entry + Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality permit (arranged by TempleFront).
- Best seasons: March–May and September–November for the clearest skies and most stable weather.
- Altitude sickness risk above 3,500 m — the two acclimatisation days at Namche and Dingboche are non-negotiable, and your guide checks oxygen levels daily.
- Comprehensive travel insurance covering trekking to 5,600 m and emergency helicopter evacuation is mandatory — please bring your policy details.
- Fitness: you should be in good general health and able to walk 5–7 hours a day on consecutive days over uneven terrain. No technical climbing or prior trekking experience is required.
- Lukla flights are weather-dependent and can be delayed — we strongly recommend keeping 1–2 buffer days at the end of your trip.
- Recommended packing beyond the basics: a sleeping bag rated to −10°C, broken-in boots, layered clothing, a down jacket, sun protection, and a refillable bottle with purification.
- Connectivity: a local NCELL SIM or an Everest Link Wi-Fi card works in most villages up to Gorak Shep, but signal is intermittent and charging costs rise with altitude.
- Money: carry enough Nepali rupees in cash from Kathmandu — Namche has the last reliable ATMs, and teahouses above it are cash-only.
- Cultural etiquette: walk clockwise around mani walls, stupas and prayer wheels, ask before photographing people, and dress modestly when visiting monasteries.
Frequently Asked
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a private trek?
Yes — every TempleFront trek is guided exclusively for your group. We never combine you with other trekkers.
What is included in the price?
All required permits, a licensed English-speaking guide, porters (1 porter per 2 trekkers), teahouse accommodation, and breakfast and dinner throughout. Lunches are on your own account at teahouses en route.
Is the Lukla flight safe?
Yes — Lukla's Tenzing-Hillary Airport has a strong safety record and is served by reputable domestic carriers. Weather delays are common: always allow 1–2 buffer days in Kathmandu after the trek. We include one buffer day in the itinerary.
How difficult is the Everest Base Camp Trek?
EBC is rated Moderate — no technical climbing, but daily walks of 5–7 hours and altitudes above 5,000 m require reasonable fitness and preparation. Anyone who exercises regularly and has done multi-day hiking will find it achievable with proper acclimatisation.
What about altitude sickness?
Altitude sickness is a genuine risk above 3,000 m. Our itinerary includes dedicated acclimatisation days at Namche and Dingboche. Consult your doctor about altitude medication before travel. Our guides are trained in altitude management — report any symptoms immediately.
What gear do I need?
Key items: sturdy broken-in trekking boots, trekking poles, a sleeping bag rated to -10°C, down jacket, waterproof shell, sun protection, and a headlamp. A full kit list is provided on booking. Sleeping bags and down jackets can be rented in Kathmandu.
What are the teahouses like?
Teahouses (guesthouses) along the trail offer twin rooms with basic furnishings, shared toilets (Western or squat), and a common dining area. WiFi is often available (at extra cost). Higher up, rooms are simpler and colder — a good sleeping bag is essential.
How do I confirm a booking?
Send us a WhatsApp or email enquiry. We respond same day with a detailed quote. A deposit secures your dates.
