The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is Nepal's most popular short trek — and justifiably so. Climbing through what is arguably the world's finest rhododendron forest to the sunrise viewpoint of Poon Hill (3,210 m), where Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Machhapuchare glow golden at dawn. The return via the living Gurung village of Ghandruk makes this a complete cultural and scenic journey.

Frequently Asked
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a private trek?
Yes — every TempleFront trek is guided exclusively for your group. We never combine you with other trekkers.
What is included in the price?
All required permits, a licensed English-speaking guide, porters, teahouse accommodation, and breakfast and dinner throughout. Lunches are on your own account at teahouses en route.
Is Poon Hill suitable for families with children?
Yes — Poon Hill is Nepal's most family-friendly Himalayan trek. The highest point is 3,210 m, daily walking is 4–6 hours on well-graded trails, and the rhododendron forest section in spring (March–April) is magical for all ages. Children aged 10 and above with reasonable fitness can complete it comfortably.
Is this trek good for first-time trekkers?
Absolutely. The Poon Hill trek is the ideal introduction to Himalayan trekking: manageable altitude, well-marked trails, good teahouses, and outstanding scenery. It gives you a genuine sense of Nepal's mountain culture without the difficulty of longer high-altitude routes.
What about altitude sickness?
At a maximum of 3,210 m, altitude sickness risk is low. Mild headaches are possible at Ghorepani. Stay hydrated and ascend gradually — our itinerary is paced to allow your body to adjust.
What gear do I need?
Comfortable trekking boots, warm layers (it's cold at Ghorepani and on the pre-dawn Poon Hill climb), a waterproof jacket, and sun protection. Trekking poles are helpful for the steeper sections. A full kit list is provided on booking.
What are the teahouses like?
Good quality twin rooms at Ghorepani, Tadapani, and Ghandruk — these are established trekking villages with solid facilities. A sleeping bag is useful for warmth but many teahouses provide blankets.
How do I confirm a booking?
Send us a WhatsApp or email enquiry. We respond same day with a detailed quote. A deposit secures your dates.
